Together in Kőhegy – preparatory camp for professional internship abroad (May 26-27-28)

This team building camp is organized twice a year: once in spring, then in autumn before the 3.5 month long traineeship. This time we kicked off with the autumn group for a 3-day training full of excitements. Similarly to the students, it was the first time for me to participate in a programme like this, so I was looking forward to it at least as much as them.

The message of the camp was different for us organizers and for the youngsters. We had been looking forward to it to see who we could send abroad, while they had been excited to know what they could expect from the journey. After the interviews we picked 17 of them who had the opportunity to take part in this 3-day training. Students travelling to Lisbon, Granada and Berlin will be selected from them.

The team building started before occupying the accommodation, since we arrived to Szentendre together by bus which was followed by an hour hiking. Listening to this lively mob marching behind me, I had the feeling of having a full school class with us who had already known each other for a long time. Reaching the destination we were not only amazed by the view but also very happy to have some rest.

Next we occupied our accommodation. This time again the training took place in the Kőhegyi Menedékház which provides a beautiful view and guests can experience what it is like to live in nomadic circumstances and, for instance, shower with rain water. After a short break and the introduction of the 3-day programme we started the ”work”. Even though the group seemed to get bonded during the way to the camp, thanks for the ice-breaker games they could learn some new information about each other.

In order not to waste time the students kept on participating in different programmes including some short breaks. In the language classes they could learn a new language or improve their already acquired skills, while in other classes they wrote CVs and cover letters, prepared videos, wrote blogs, did role plays and learnt about the Erasmus+ programme. In the evenings they played in groups and solved different tasks.

It was good to see how a bunch of foreign people become a team whose members help each other.
